Mission Statement:

The Centre for Empowerment of Women, Anna University strives to improve the quality of the women through transfer of knowledge and technology and to make the women empowered economically, socially, culturally and politically in order to make the fullest use of their potential to the growth of the nation.

Aims and Objectives:

• To bring together women organisations, government agencies, decision makers, academicians and technologists to share knowledge and ideas in the relevant fields.
• To carry the scientific and technological study of the traditional and indigenous wisdom with reference to food preservation, products that are environmental friendly, traditional medicine, agriculture and agro industries and textile tehcnology.
• To identify areas where there is need for upgradation, search for source of technology select appropriate technology, upgrade the technology and then teach it to the identified group.
• To involve NSS students of Anna University to interact with rural and urban women who lack formal education and identify projects suitable for upgradation using technology.
• To conduct seminar, workshop to impart knowledge of opportunities and tools available and train the women.
• To impart entrepreneurail skills to women groups by making them aware of knowledge of market demand, management skills, and salesmanship and finance.
• To help the women obtain patients for their products.
• To help the self help group women to get financial support by identifying the sources.
• To identify specific projects suitable for rural, semi-urban and urban women groups.
• To provide a data base that provide the details on policies and programs of Government agencies and NGOs, possible venture capitals, enterprises, suitable for women, marker feasibility, patenting infrastructure needed and success stories of women entrepreneurs.
• To inculcate entrepreneurial attitude among young girls, scientists at the earliest so that they can be “job givers” rather than “job takers.”
• To identify in which live projects can be given to students as part of their industrial training.
