About the Division

The division of Electrical Drives and Embedded Control was started in the year 2002 as a regular program to offer Master’s degree in the said area. This course is offered as a Day – Part time program to practicing engineers from different areas like Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication and Computer Science and Engineering branches.

About the Curriculum

The curriculum is designed by experts group consisting of academicians and industrialists to meet the demands from research and industrial areas. The syllabus aims at providing a good foundation on Electrical Machine Analysis and Dynamic Modeling, Power Electronic feel drives, Special Electrical Machines, Design, Modelling and Control of circuits and systems and Embedded Control and MEMs technology besides exposure on VLSI and DSP.

Infrastructural Facility

The laboratory facility extended to students consist of Brushless DC motor, Switched Reluctance motor besides conventional electrical machines. A cascade connection of DC machine – Induction Machine Synchronous machine with – shaft mounted torque transducer and speed encoder set-up is available for machine diagnostics and further extended research based on it.

Further variable AC and DC power sources which can supply and regulate power to electrical machines are available. Moreover, dSPACE (DSP Processor mounted in digital computer) High speed digital storage oscilloscope, Data Acquisition Cards (High speed and low speed), Three-phase power measurement metre, Harmonic analyzer, voltage and current (Hall effect) sensors are some of the state-of-the facilities attached to the laboratory.
