HISTORY
The Department of Mining Engineering in the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University was re-established in the year 1987. This is the only Mining Engineering Department in the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry catering to the needs of over 400 Mines. It is in the long line of industry-oriented education centres with commitment to meet the ever growing need of high quality mining engineers. The department has the state-of-the-art facilities and it is equipped with facilities like Data mine Software, Artificial Intelligence Software, Blast Vibrations Monitoring Equipments, Multi Gas Detector, Total Survey Station, etc.

The department has been actively involved in various research and development programmes and offers consultancy services to various industries in and around Tamil Nadu. The department offers undergraduate, graduate, doctoral research facilities on a full time as well as part time basis. The curriculum and syllabi are updated frequently to keep abreast with the new technology and changing needs of the industry. The students acquire a firm foundation on engineering sciences and are well equipped to meet the challenges of the modern world.
