Head : Dr. P.Mannar Jawahar The department of Automobile Engineering was started in the year 1949 at MIT and was offering a three year course in Automobile Engineering for science graduates. Post graduate programme was started in the year 1978. Subsequently on the formation of Anna University in 1978, MIT became a constituent Institution of the university and the department too became a department of Anna University. Department of Automobile Engineering (MIT) is the pioneer in offering both under graduate and post graduate courses in Automobile Engineering besides M.S (By Research) and Ph.D. From 1996 onwards 4 year degree programme for higher secondary students was introduced. Besides academic programme the department is working for the programmes of “CENTRE FOR AUTOMOTIVE RESEARCH AND TRAINING” (CART). |
