MICROWAVE & OPTICAL COMMUNICATION LAB |
![]() |
The microwave laboratory has been set up with test benches in J-band and X-band using Klystron and Gunn diode power sources. these are used in the measurement and study of signal frequencies, mode characteristics, guide wavelength. It is also used to measure the antenna radiation pattern and beamwidth as well.
This laboratory is equipped with 1Ghz -13dBm source with inbuilt test source. A PC based antenna measurement set up caters the need of the beginners to understand the antenna measurement. An 18Ghz panoramic receiver facilitates the UG, PG and research scholars in the measurement upto 18Ghz.
The fiber optical communication lab was set up in the year 1992 under the Indo-German Collaboration and has been actively used since that time. It caters to the needs of UG, PG and research scholars in the field of high speed, low loss communication. This lab is well equipped with optical sources- LED, Laser Diodes at 850nm,1300nm,Optical detector - PIN PD and APD at 850 nm, 100Mhz Mixed Signal oscilloscopes, 1ns Pulse Generator Unit, Grating based Optical Spectrum Analyser(830nm-1600nm), a 4-channel DFB based WDM unit with wavelength centered around 1550nm with 0.8nm spacing, Optical Power meters for measuring at 850nm, 1300nm, 1550nm, high power laser modules at 650nm hydraulic bench and Multimode and Single mode fibers etc. the facilities in the laboratory help students to understand high speed communication through fibers, WDM concepts, carry out link analysis, spectral analysis, eye pattern analysis and BER measurements
