Dr. Muthukaruppan Alagar, Professor of Chemistry working within the Department of Chemical Engineering in Alagappa College of Technology, Anna University, Chennai - 600 025, India, I have 30 years of teaching, research and administrative experience and I am involved in research in the field of high performance materials (eg. siliconized epoxy matrices, siliconized epoxy-bismaleimide matrices, bismaleimide-polyurethane-epoxy matrices, siliconized cyanate ester-bismaleimide matrices, EPDM-g-silane/ LLDPE/ PS/ PMMA blends, nonmetallic gold/ platinum/ ruthenium supported with carbon nano tubes for fuel cell and drug delivery systems, organoclay based nanocomposites and POSS based nanohybrid coatings for high performance industrial, engineering and radiation resistant applications).

I have guided 20 Ph.D candidates and at present guiding 9 Ph.D students in the field of nanohybrid composites/ coatings and blends. I have published about 100 research articles in the international journals of repute and I am also presented more than 34 research papers in national/ international conferences. I have been involved in funded research projects and industrially consultancy projects totaling more than 10 million Indian Rupees. I am also reviewing research articles for about 17 international journals of repute in the field of polymer science and technology. I have been teaching polymer technology, plastic technology, rubber technology, industrial chemistry, applied chemistry for B.Tech. / M.Tech./ M.Sc students for the past three decades. I have also served as Director (Student affairs), Deputy Director (Affiliations), Deputy Warden (Hostels) in the University administrations. I am also serving as a member of academic council and board of studies in engineering/ technological institutions. I have served as a common wealth consultant (UK, London) in the Caribbean region and I have visited University of Surrey, UK through Royal Society Fellow Scheme. Now I am serving as a Director for Educational Multimedia Research Center, Anna University, Chennai - 25.
