Dr. D.Manjula, Director, Centre for Faculty Development, Anna University Chennai was born in Madurai. She received her B.E Electronics & Communications Engineering degree in 1983 from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai and M.E Computer Science & Engineering in 1987 and Ph.D (Computer Science & Engineering) in 2004 from Anna University Chennai.

She joined as a faculty member of Anna University in 1984 and became as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in 2004. She served in the teaching profession for 25 years and held various position. During her tenure as Professor of Planning and Development, Anna University Chennai, she was actively involved in facilitating more than 40 Mou’s with industries national and international universities. She also helped in obtaining five year plan proposals from state and central government for the benefit of university and generating special grants to the university by approaching various funding agencies such as UGC, AICTE, DST, DRDO etc., She was the ex-office member of all the executive committees of 43 Autonomous centres and budget committees constituted by the Vice-Chancellor.

At present, she teaches and conducted research work relating to languages technologies, Data Mining, Textile mining, Imaging and networks. She has published three books and conducted several short-term courses for the benefit of other faculty members. She is a member of various affiliated committees of the Academic and Research Boards.

She has guided more than forty M.E students and at present supervisors 12 Ph.D scholars. She has presented 30 research papers at international conferences and contributed 9 papers to International Journals. She is also the External Examiner for Ph.D Vice Voce. She has coordinated three research projects funded by Tamil Virtual University of Tamil nadu Government with a passion to render Tamil language in Mobile phones. She is actively involved in a project called RCILTS funded by Ministry of Information Technology, intended to provide knowledge tool in Indian language (Tamil Language). She has also visited USA, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia and has participated in international conference and workshop.
