RCC is rendering computational and data centric services to the academicians and the administratives of the University. The centre functions 24 hours, all the seven days a week. The centre established the campus-wide computer networking using a fibre optic backbone having a capacity of 1GB and also maintains the website of Anna University Chennai. Internet facility at RCC is sophisticated with WiFi connectivity throughout the campus, with outdoor antennas erected at major points. Recently, Video Streaming Server has been installed at Ramanujan Computing Centre, to render Video Conference/Video-on-demand facility to the CEG Campus and to other constituent campuses A.C.T. and M.I.T. as well. This will enable the students/faculty to participate lectures, delivered in any campus.
RCC undertakes the entrance examinations and admission processing of all the courses of Anna University . It takes care of developing softwares for Engineering admissions on behalf of Tamil Nadu Government. It has been engaged in developing packages needed for the academic and administrative works of the University. The centre conducts short term training programmes under continuing Education Programmes too.
RCC is a nodal QIP centre for MCA teachers sponsored by AICTE at national level to conduct M.E. (CSE) and Ph.D. (CSE) programmes to the teachers sponsored by the AICTE recognized institutions offering MCA programme. The QIP nodal centre also arranges short term refresher courses to the teachers of the MCA programme of different colleges to upgrade their knowledge.
The centre directly renders academic service to more than 7000 students ranging from UG, PG and research scholars at both M.S. and Ph. D. levels by the way of providing systems with necessary softwares. RCC takes the responsibility of handling the Course "Computer Programming Practice", which has been made compulsory to all the first year Engineering students of University departments. |
