Anna University Sports Board
       
With the affiliation of almost all the Engineering Institutions of Tamil Nadu to Anna University, the University has evolved a strategy to promote sports activities in these institutions involving over 3.0 lakhs students. Anna University Sports Board (AUSB) has been constituted with the Vice-Chancellor as President and members drafted from various institutions to evolve policy decisions with regard to the conduct of tournaments at Zonal / Inter-zonal level, selection of University Team, etc. and other sports promotional activities.
       
A methodology has been formulated to conduct various games under 10-zone basis / 5-zone basis / 1-zone basis, depending on the popularity and expected participation in the games among student community. Budgetary provisions and modalities for the conduct of zonal tournaments to bring in uniformity in execution in all the ten zones, are spelt out in the booklet on Regulations and Guidelines 2002, released in 2002 and currently revised as Guidelines 2005.
       
Anna University Sports Board has come out with the above guidelines to spot out the young talents who can excel in sports and bring laurels to the university, state and the nation. Anna University Sports Board is planning to conduct coaching camps during summer / winter in various sports disciplines for the University players.
       
An annual sports award function is being arranged to honour the zonal champion colleges for their outstanding performance in their region and the inter-zonal champion college for securing the top rank in sports performance among all the institutions of Anna University. The sports persons who brought laurels to the University during their participation in International / National / Inter-University tournaments will also be honoured in that function.
       
With the coordinated efforts of Anna University Sports Board, Anna University is bound to show its mark in sports arena also.
