Centre for Multi- Disciplinary Systems Research (CMDSR) has been formed recently as an autonomous research Centre under the Department of Civil engineering, CEG, AU. CMDSR has emerged out as a centre of excellence in education, research and outreach activities in the multi discipline of systems engineering and technology. The need base infrastructure, well equipped laboratories in Anna University , are the major strengths and well qualified, skilled and expertise enriched teaching faculty, self-commitment oriented, customized intuitional ownership driven and hardworking non-teaching faculty responsible for vibrant and eco-friendly working atmosphere leaving no stone unturned to facilitate three-dimensional development of institution. Advanced systems engineering research facilities with modern infrastructure at its CEG campus supports the innovative research of the faculty.Many national and international collaborations drive the multidisciplinary nature of its research. The centre provides a platform for its consortium members and alumni to contribute to the growth of this futuristic technology. The centre has high potential to establish mutual collaborations with various industries and National statutory bodies which support its advanced research.
To become a Nodal and Unique centre in Multi- Disciplinary Systems Research at National and Global level in various engineering domain and extend its wing in Technology & other allied domains as well through Innovative Research & Outreach towards sustainability.
I deem it a great pleasure in welcoming the aspiring young minds to ’Centre for Multi--Disciplinary Systems Research ’ (CMDSR), CEG, Anna University , Chennai- 25. Multidisciplinary research takes place when faculty from different disciplines work independently on a common problem or research question. In this approach, faculty share research goals and work on the same problem, but look at it from their own discipline’s perspective. The findings from each discipline are supplementary to each other. The advantage to multidisciplinary research is that each aspect can be analyzed by a particular specialty, which is often necessary to answer complex research problems. Technological innovations, from modern symbiotic system processes through novel system integrated technology with multi disciplinary approach are needed for evolving smart solutions to highly complex systems. Inter and Multi-Disciplinary approach is a mode of research by teams or individuals that integrates information, data, techniques, tools, perspectives, concepts, and/or theories from two or more disciplines or bodies of specialized knowledge to advance fundamental understanding or to solve problems whose solutions are beyond the scope of a single discipline or area of research practice. In other words, rather than working independently, with interdisciplinary research disciplines interact and work collaboratively.
Interdisciplinary research relies on shared knowledge. When this happens, a fundamental shift can take place over time and a new interdisciplinary field emerges. For example, biochemistry, nanoscience, and neuroscience all emerged as interdisciplinary fields that eventually grew to become their own disciplines.
With a meticulously designed research objectives, highly efficient and dedicated team of professionals and subject expert members and state-of-the-art infrastructure, CMDSR serves as a knowledge-hub in creating socially , technically & economically sound pragmatic solutions for today’s challenges.
CMDSR emerges to be a well established sophisticated research facility at Centre for excellence building, CEG campus. CMDSR aspires for excellence in research and education to compensate with scarcity of skilled and expertise manpower in the existing conventional Systems domain. It is our pride endeavour to provide the most modern research in a competent learning environment. The centre has widened its skyline in the recent years by collaborating with institutions across the globe; from the perspectives of both research and education. The centre is being receiving strong support from government organizations like Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), Greater Chennai Police Commissioner office (GCPC) , Inspector General of Police (IGP), Transport Commissioner Office (TC) , Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) as well as from many industrial sectors and society to name a few Bharath Semi conductor Society (BSS), India Piston , AI & ICT /IoT etc.,) and other academia like Madras University, IIT Bhubaneswar, NIT Odissa etc. With the mounting technology and expertise among the young researchers and students, we are sure to achieve much more.
