A major emphasis area deals with monitoring and management of water pollution in coastal and freshwater systems. The general objective is to identify regions that are threatened by pollution, recognize the potential land-based sources for such pollution and develop guidelines for management of pollution sources and for rehabilitation of degraded environments.

This conference will bring together a diverse group of water experts and interested lay people to explore water resource issues that span the globe and impact our own communities. Several national and internationally recognized water authorities, will present their perspectives of global and local water resource issues. This three-day conference will include a range of activities to promote discussions about the sustainable management of water resources. Experts in each of the identified technical session will make keynote presentations.
