Dr. Purvaja Ramachandran is a scientist at the Institute for Ocean Management Anna University. She recieved her Masters in Marine Biology (1990) from Annamalai University and Ph.D in Environmental Sciences (1995) from Anna University. She has been currently awarded the Department of Science and Technology's Young Scientist Award to conduct advanced research in Global climate change at IOM, Anna University. Dr. Purvaja was also a recipient of the DAAD fellowship to conduct Post-Doctoral research in Global Climate change during 1996-1997 tenable at the Max-Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, Marburg Germany. She has published several research papers in international journals and her current research interests include, Global Climate Change and Biogeochemical cycles in coastal ecosystems.
