Ernakulam District:
     
 Ernakulam District, located between latitudes 9° 47' - 10°17 N and longitudes 76°9' and 76°47'E is bounded on the north by Thrissur district, on the east by Idukki district on the south by Kottayam and Alapuzha districts and on the west by Lakshadweep Sea. Fisheries of this district have a significant role in the economy of the state.
      In this district, Ernakulam channel and Arabian Sea surround the mangrove area. Patches of mangroves are distributed near Puthuvaipu, Azhikkal, Vypin and Vallarpadam regions. It covers an area of 1.77kmē.
