The consultancy engagement undertaken for Carbon Loops involved a comprehensive evaluation of the anaerobic digestion process, with a focus on enhancing methane yield in biogas production particularly when food waste was used as the substrate and cow dung as the inoculum. The study encompassed an in-depth analysis of microbial dynamics, physicochemical attributes of both substrate and inoculum, and critical operating conditions. Based on these investigations, targeted recommendations were proposed to optimize methane output. This work presents a detailed overview of the digestion mechanism and the optimal process parameters required for high-efficiency biogas generation.
